0% finance, through Plenti
Nothing on the day, nothing in interest.
Solar Up arranges finance through Plenti, an Australian credit licensee that funds home solar and batteries. An approved application pays nothing up front and no interest on the balance: a flat monthly account fee stands in its place. New Ability Energy still holds the install, the contract and the warranty.
Up front $0
Check my eligibilityFinance is subject to Plenti's approval. Amounts run to $30,000 over 3 to 6 years, and to 10 years where the loan funds battery storage. The loan is unsecured, so nothing is held against your home.
How it works
One financial check, before you commit to anything.
Finance is arranged around the quote, not after it. You know what the repayment looks like before you sign for a system.
-
01
Size the system
We work out what the roof and the switchboard will carry and what the battery needs to be. The Commonwealth discount comes off the invoice first, so the amount that gets financed is the balance after it.
-
02
Check the eligibility
Plenti runs the assessment against its own criteria. It happens before you commit to the system, so an application that does not clear costs you the time and nothing else.
-
03
Sign both agreements
Two contracts: the system with New Ability Energy, the credit with Plenti. Plenti holds the Australian Credit Licence and sets the terms. Solar Up does not lend and does not vary them.
-
04
Install and repay
The install runs on the normal timeline. Repayments start on Plenti's schedule. The loan is unsecured, so the system is yours from the day it is switched on, not from the last repayment.
The terms
What Plenti funds, and on what conditions.
Plenti's published position on its zero interest payment plan. Solar Up does not add to it and cannot vary it.
| Term | Plenti's published position |
|---|---|
| Interest rate | 0%. A flat monthly account fee applies in its place, and the amount is set in your application. |
| Maximum amount | $30,000 for eligible renewable energy work. |
| Repayment term | 3 to 6 years, and to 10 years where the loan funds battery storage. |
| Security | Unsecured. No asset is held against the loan, including your home and the system itself. |
| Early repayment | Plenti's published position is that you usually will not be charged an early repayment fee. |
| What it funds | Solar panels, home batteries and electric vehicle chargers, bought through an accredited installer partner. |
| Who holds the contract | Plenti Finance Pty Limited, ABN 82 636 759 861, Australian Credit Licence 569622. |
The monthly fee is not printed here because Plenti does not publish one figure. It is set in your application, and the contract you sign is what governs it.
Where the money actually goes
The discount lands first. Finance covers what is left.
The Commonwealth takes about 30% off the cost of a home battery. It arrives as certificates assigned at installation, not as a rebate you chase afterwards, so it comes off the invoice before anything is financed. That is why the sizing conversation happens first.
The small home package still starts at $9,000, fully installed. Solar Up buys at volume as an authorised distributor, and New Ability Energy does the install. Finance changes when you pay for a system, not what it costs.
Before you apply
0% means no interest. It does not mean no obligation.
Four things worth knowing before an application goes in, including the one that argues against it.
-
01
A repayment is still a commitment
This is a credit contract with a licensed lender and it is assessed and reported like one. If a monthly figure is tight now it will still be tight in year four.
-
02
The fee is not interest, and it is still real
A flat monthly account fee stands in place of interest. A longer term lowers the repayment and raises the number of times that fee is charged. The shortest term you can carry is the one that costs least in total.
-
03
Paying outright costs less
If the money is available and you do not need it elsewhere, paying the invoice costs less than financing it. Finance is for people who want the system now and would rather keep the cash where it is.
-
04
A decline changes how, not what
If the application does not clear, the system, the sizing and the discounts are all unchanged. What changes is how it gets paid for, and that is a conversation with more than one answer.
Eligibility
What Plenti asks for.
- 18 years or older.
- An Australian citizen or a permanent resident.
- A valid driver licence, Medicare card or Australian passport.
- You own your home, or you are buying it.
- A clear credit file.
- Employed more than 25 hours a week, a self-funded retiree, or receiving a government pension.
- The work is done by an accredited installer partner.
Plenti states that further eligibility requirements may apply and assesses every application on its own facts. Meeting the list above is not an approval, and nobody here can give you one.
There is no cost to check and no obligation to proceed. If the application does not clear, the quote stands and we work out another way to pay for it.
Before you ask
The questions we get about the finance.
Every answer here is Plenti's published position or a plain statement of what Solar Up is not, and the sources are at the bottom of the page.
-
01
Who is actually lending the money?
Plenti Finance Pty Limited, ABN 82 636 759 861, which holds Australian Credit Licence 569622. Solar Up is not a lender, does not set the rate, the fees or the term, and does not decide your application.
-
02
Where does the 0% come from?
Plenti's zero interest payment plan charges a flat monthly account fee instead of interest. It is a published Plenti product available through accredited installers, not a Solar Up promotion, and it is not offered on every purchase.
-
03
Do I own the system, or does Plenti?
You own it. The loan is unsecured, so nothing is held against the system or the house. It is not a lease and it is not a power purchase agreement. There is no balloon payment at the end to take ownership.
-
04
Does the Commonwealth discount still apply if I finance?
Yes. The discount is assigned at installation and comes off the invoice, and the finance covers the balance after it. How you pay does not change what you qualify for.
-
05
How long can I take to repay it?
3 to 6 years on Plenti's published terms, and to 10 years where the loan funds battery storage.
-
06
What is the monthly fee?
Plenti sets it in your application and does not publish a single figure, so we will not print one. Ask for it before you sign, and read it on the contract rather than taking it from a website, including this one.
-
07
Is there a fee to pay it out early?
Plenti's published position is that you usually will not be charged an early repayment fee. Your own contract is what governs it, and a default fee can still apply if a repayment is missed.
-
08
What happens if the application is declined?
Nothing about the quote changes. We will tell you what paying outright or part-paying looks like on the same system, and there is no obligation either way.
